Rules

Team Competition: 2 – person teams (mens, ladies or mixed) take part and accumulate points for themselves during each of the league races that will be held through the year. Each race will be held over a different race course where a single loop of the course will be completed. Course length varies between 40 – 50km.

Individual Competition: Individuals take part in this competition on the same course as the teams, and accumulate points for themselves during each of the league races. Riders who have entered the individual competition may take part as a substitute rider in a team, but cannot claim any points from that particular race for the individual competition. There will be separate prizes for the individual competition.

Due to the handicap system, all league participants compete for 1 prize only, i.e. there are no separate competitions for mens-, ladies- and mixed gender teams.

Teams and individuals will earn points in accordance with their finishing position in each race, with the best 5 results to count towards the Order of Merit. The League winners will be the team with the highest points total in the Order of Merit. Points earned from each race will be determined as follows:

    1. Position 1: 35 Points
    2. Position 2: 31 Points
    3. Position 3: 27 Points
    4. Position 4: 24 Points

Registration fees are payable per the indicated payment schedule. Kindly contact us if you wish to further discuss payment options.

Team members must be finalized 1 week before an event. An administration fee of R175 will be charged each time a team member swap is requested. Should a member swap take place without the fee being paid, the team will forfeit any points earned during the races after the swap, until the fee is settled.

If 2 or more teams finish with the same points at the end of the series, the team that have swapped the least members through the course of the year will be the winner in that position. If the number of member swaps are the same, the team with the best accumulated Nett Riding Time (NRT) for the series will be the winner in that position.

Riders will supply to the organizers a copy of their CSA license/PPA membership/Club Membership Card for 2012. Riders who are not affiliated to any of the abovementioned bodies must pay a R35 day license to take part in any of the races.

The application of the individual team members’ handicaps will be as follows:

  1. The age handicap for a team will be determined by the age of the oldest rider.
  2. The experience handicap for a team will be determined by the rider who has the least experience (up to a maximum of 4 years)
  3. The body mass index handicap that will be applicable to a team will be the handicap applicable to the rider who has the lowest BMI.
  4. The decision of the organizers as applicable to the above will be binding and final.

During a race, team members may not be separated by a time of more than 30 seconds at any point during the race. Team members who are caught at transgressing this rule will incur time penalties of 15 minutes for every transgression.

Any rider in the race may receive any kind of assistance from any other rider(s) taking part in the race. Outside assistance will lead to a disqualification in the particular race during which assistance was received, except if assistance was received at a designated technical assistance zone.

Entrants must sign the waiver and indemnity form before they will be allowed to take part in any of the league races.

The organizers or land owners shall not be held responsible for injury, death, or damage to property of any kind or nature whatsoever of the participants or any of their supporters, relatives or family members who may attend the race, even if it is evident that negligence existed on the part of the organizers and/or land owners in the execution of their tasks and responsibilities.

A team of which a member is guilty of littering will incur a time penalty of 30 minutes. This also applies to the individual competition.

Smoking on the course is strictly forbidden, and any vandalism to plants and property, as well as mistreatment of animals, will lead to the disqualification of a team from the league.
